Sept. 25-Oct. 9: Four, Five and Six

At the excellent suggestion of one of our participants, I am giving you the Notes for last Friday's session, as well as those for the two final upcoming sessions. That way, you can read ahead if you want to be better prepared.

Here are Number Four, Number Five and Number Six.

Remember, after the sixth session on Oct. 9, we will have an open session on Oct. 16 in the same word. We can talk about basic differences between your phone and iPad plus answer other questions or do some reviews if needed.

The iPad Basics sessions begin in the same room, Eureka 106, on Oct. 23. If you have not signed up and want to, do it now!

iPhone Basics and iPad Basics, Fall 2015

News Flash!
We will be using this website once again for both the iPhone Basics and iPad Basics classes this fall semester.
Please note that the Renaissance Fall Catalog did NOT include the dates for these two seminars. For the first time, these will NOT overlap, but will follow one another. So you can take both if you want! Each one will last six sessions and both will be in Eureka 106. On the week between the two classes, Oct. 16, there will be a special session in that room to answer questions, try to solve problems and explain some of the differences between iPhones and iPads.

iPhone Basics will be Sept. 4 through Oct. 9.
iPad Basics will be Oct. 23 through Dec. 4.
Registration is required for both classes. You will find the registration links on the iTopics page (the noon class) or here.

More information will be here closer to the class dates.

iPhone #2 - Fall 2014

Hello iPhone Fans,

Our second session will focus on how to access the iPhone User Guide, iBooks, Call Management, Voicemail, Find My iPhone and iCloud, including how to set up an iCloud account and set up automatic backups for your iPhone.

Since our WiFi access intermittent and rather slow in the classroom, I recommend that you download iBooks and the iPhone User Guide prior to Friday’s seminar.  We will go over this in the class, but only briefly.  Below are instructions on how to do download iBooks to your home screen and then download the User Guide into iBooks for easy access.

iBooks - Download from App Store if you do not have the app on your iPhone.
1. Tap on  App Store icon on your Home Screen
2. At the bottom of the screen, tap the Search icon (looks like a magnifying glass)
3. At the top of the screen in the search windows, type iBooks
4. When the “free” box appears, tap FREE
5. iBooks should appear on your Home screen

iPhone User Guide
1.  Tap iBooks icon
2.  Tap Search, and type in iPhone User Guide for iOS 7 (We will download iOS 8 later, but you need to be updated to get the latest and greatest operating system, iOS 8.
3.  Tap User Guide to download to your iPhone
4.  You will need to type in your Apple ID and password in order to access content for iBooks
5.  The Guide will appear in your iBooks Library

The iPhone User Guide is full of information on how to maximize the features of your iPhone.

This coming Friday, will review last week’s activities and quickly move to new information on the topics indicated above.

iPhone #1 - Fall 2014

Dear Apple Fans,

Welcome to the iPhone Basics seminar for Fall 2014.  We are scheduled to meet on Fridays for six weeks, September 5 through October 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Eureka 113.  In the first session, we will go over the agenda for the six weeks so you will know what to expect. We have a number of returning iPhone Fans so we will have great resources for our “hands on” practice time.

WiFi:  We are accessing WiFi on campus a little differently this year.  You will all have access to WiFi when you are on campus, but each week you will have to log in to SacLink and select Guest to activate WiFi for a limited period.
