Learn Skype

Our Renaissance Society seminars are just one place to learn about technology.

Look for other opportunities near you. Or if you see something interesting but far away, consider asking for a local presentation. Case in point, the Sacramento Bee ran an announcement "You can learn Skype at Franklin Library." This is in the Elk Grove area – bring your iPad or iPhone for the Saturday, September 7th at 1 pm workshop. But "What is Skype?" you ask. This is a video conferencing service that first appeared on computers and is now available on iPads and iPhones. One benefit of Skype over Apple's FaceTime app is that Skype is 'cross platform' so an iPhone can video conference with a Windows 8 user on her computer. Before you go, visit the online App Store, search for Skype and 'Buy' this free app. It will automatically download to your device. Another workshop covers Basic Computer, Internet, email and Technology Help. More reasons to visit your local public library!
