Questions and Paths to Answers

This page will update with reports from web Searches.

Our website looks different on computer/iPad and iPhone, for example:

Touch the image above to see the screenshot at 100%.

A tool you will want to use is SEARCH. But it is hard to use on the small iPhone screen. You will also want to review past articles by browsing the BLOG ARCHIVES by tapping/clicking the reveal triangles and then tapping on a title to view the article.

The iPhone view is good when we have posted the direct link to an app in the App Store so you do not have to search the store and ... possibly purchase the wrong app.

Quick Response Codes or qr codes are showing up everywhere. Using mobile devices with cameras we can easily access websites (restaurant menus) and get directions or event information.

Create your own QR Codes Qrafter Pro $4 app or use Generate QR Code from Shortcuts Gallery that lets you pick from a Contacts card, a website, Calendar event, email or message. Learn more about Apple Shortcuts for automation in the Shortcuts User Guide

Questions about Chrome came up Day 1 and Day2. Ken Spencer mentioned the Chrome browser has been known to slow down a Mac computer or laptop - not the same for Windows.

Tom Holt found an important article in Forbes: https://apple.news/AxOZPe_FxQiib1U9UuqWzEA when reading Apple News. This headline might get your attention too: "Why You Should Never Use Google Chrome On Your iPhone, iPad Or Mac
Millions of users warned to stop using Chrome after "hidden" and "creepy" new tracking begins..."

Calendars & Contacts
  • Use the top left button to show all calendars. Click the + to make a new one called ... Work ... and then use the ( i ) to set a color for it.
  • Different calendars can have different colors to ID different types of events.
  • On some iPads the Month view might show two appointments and then "3 more" without details. To see everything, switch your view to Week.
  • Your event (Bookclub) can Repeat > Custom > Frequency > Weekly and 3 weeks on Thursday
Contacts
  • You can open a Contact Card, scroll down the page and Share Contact - sending the info by Email or Messages. This is a one-at-a-time operation.
  • Not sure how to share ALL contacts between Apple and Other devices. Maybe this is a time for researching Google Contacts. (I am leery of giving Google/FB/LinkedIn etc access to my Contacts list!

More to come soon
